It Happened One Night

She hides under the sheet of patches,
With a cup of hot drink and some crackers,
Why she wouldn't let him in is a mystery,
As he is there to keep her company.

Knock, knock, knock
"Who's there?" She would ask,
"Why it's me who came to lit the dark",
Suddenly the door creeks open,
And there she stands with angry eyes red as molten.

He hands her his sad bouquet of flowers,
Leaning against the door, Jimmy Stewart style,
"O dear god please heed my prayers,
Let her take them in with her droopy smile".

"You're too late" Arms crossed fixed for a fray,
So he said "But here I am with your bouquet!",
"It's past midnight and Cinderella has gone astray"-
So she replied, hinting the Romeo to go away.

The purple flowers she took them still,
Keeping them fresh next to her jar of cookie meal,
Minutes she waited for him to save the day,
But there he froze like a turkey on Thanksgiving day.

The night grew dark with a buckled moon,
It rhymes together with her sorrow tune,
The night will pass along with his doom,
As the morning glory starts to bloom.

By the bed they lie chilled to the bones,
With Siamese dreams in sight,
But it's nothing with respite.
"Care for a lullaby?" He seeks for atone,
"I'd settle with a bedtime story tonight"-
And so she condones.
Thus he oblige with no heed of a fight,
For in the end she is never alone
Or so he I have plight.
